Fibers Used in Organic Clothing

Here are the most common fibers used for making organic clothes:

Organic Cotton Clothing:

This is the most popular and abundant organic material. Organic cotton clothes are stylish, comfortable and environmentally friendly. Organic cotton is most frequently used for making t-shirts, sweat-shirts, yoga-wear, jeans and other comfort-oriented styles.

Organic Hemp Clothing:

Hemp fabric is very much like linen in appearance. Hemp fibers are also frequently mixed with other organic fibers, such as cotton and bamboo.

Organic Wool Clothing:

Wool is derived from the fur of sheep, llamas, and alpaca. It is indispensable in winter, and in colder climates. It makes for great sweaters, socks, hats, gloves. The difference between regular wool, and organic, is of course the treatment and feeding of the animals. The ethics of organic wool are often questioned, so it is up to individual consumers to decide where they stand.

Organic Bamboo Clothing:

Organic bamboo clothes may be hard to picture, but they are actually as soft as silk, with similar drape. They are also very absorbent, thus making them extremely comfortable clothes to wear, as they take the moisture away from the skin.

Why organic clothing?

Well, why not? Organic clothing has the power to make you feel good about yourself and the planet. Buying organic supports your family’s health, and the planet’s. And with the great interest that the current green movement is generating, buying organic clothes also means stylish, and beautiful. Don’t think hippy. Think haute couture.

Think about it. If you go organic, you've already made the realisation that the food you eat is important, so you try to eat organic produce. You've probably also taken it a step further and shifted (if you a lady) to natural organic cosmetics. (You haven't? What are you waiting for? Wouldn't you rather have natural ingredients on your face then synthetics and cancirogens? Well, if skin care is important because it goes on your skin, clothes go on the skin too. Haven't you noticed how unbreathable synthetic clothes in summer? How you need a really strong deodorant to counter the smell that doesn't even smell like you when you where the fashionable "plastiky" tops on a hot day?

The world is changing. Let’s make sure the changes are for the better. And for the healthier -- for us and the planet. For we are all one.
